The only goal I had in mind was to learn as much as I could and address weaknesses with guidance. All of my goals were met! I’ve read tons of information about form, stride, core stability and core strengthening. I tried to incorporate into my training, but was unable to until being given the feedback I received. As a novice runner of three years, I’m a hands on learner, and this method was golden for me. I tried to incorporate what was taught during each of my training runs during the week. Amazing, my mantra, “lead with the navel.” I also worked diligently on my arm swing and lengthening my stride. Practice lends to perfecting, I have a ways to go but I’m willing to put my best foot forward in achieving success.
Superb staff!!! Kudos for their dedication and commitment to meet each of our needs. A 6:00am start time on Monday mornings is reserved for committed, dedicated, and possibly the insane! As our group eased in one by one each Monday morning, the staff was here bright and early, music jamming, meeting us with smiles. They always took the time individually, and as a group, to inquire if we had any issues, concerns, or successes. Familiar faces allowed them to get to know us personally, and greet us in that manner. It was also nice for them to spot-check us on other stations to ensure correct form while simultaneously spotting a runner on the treadmill. The trainers were very good at this, and corrected us without humiliation. The rest of the group benefited form the gentle correction of one member. When the group was smaller, this interaction was greater, and I appreciated the spot checks of form. They were particularly sensitive in the beginning as I continued to recover and nurture tendonitis in my foot after running the Disney Marathon in early January. Their expertise and competency was evident in each week’s program focus. I was in awe and wanted to perform exceptionally well. Their coaching skills were evident.
Thanks for a well-tuned program! If someone would have told me that I would be running at race pace with a 20% incline, for 20 seconds hold, 20 seconds off, and 20 seconds with no hands, I would have decked them! Famous words for the past nine weeks, “ 10 more seconds.” That may become my new mantra!
I definitely will seek membership during the late fall/early winter off-season in preparation for the Spring Marathon of 2007. I know what I want for Christmas, tickets to Acceleration Richmond! |
